South Carolina fires son of late NFL legend in latest changes
South Carolina has fired offensive coordinator Mike Shula after one season, CBS Sports’ Matt Zenitz reported Sunday. The move comes in the midst one of the worst offensive stretches in program history.
This is first time in Shane Beamer’s five-year tenure in Columbia that he has dismissed a coordinator. The move follows the mid-season firing of offensive line coach Lonnie Teasley. The Gamecocks dropped to 3-6 on the season with a single SEC win this season.
South Carolina is the only Power Four team yet to surpass 350 total yards in a game this season. The Gamecocks average 19.7 points per game, which is their lowest since 2002.
What was expected to be a upgrade of the Gamecocks’ pro-style scheme
