SPRINGFIELD, Mo. (KY3) -Halloween is over, and jack-o-lanterns are meeting their end.

Many people made sure their decor went out in style on Saturday.

Springfield Environmental Services hosted a Pumpkin Smash at its Yardwaste Recycling Center on South Farm Road 119.

People could take a swing at their gourds with sledge hammers or use them for target practice, bowling, sky-high drops, and more.

Although the event is over, you can always take your organic decor to all three of the city’s recycling centers .

“We just want to get the message out to the community to remind people that this resource exists in our community, and especially your holiday decor, like pumpkins, corn stock, and hay bales,” said Laurie Davis with Springfield Environmental Services. “Those don’t need to go to t
