MARATHON – Marathon senior track sensation Chris Marcell has long waited for his opportunity to call himself a Division 1 athlete, but no longer.
Fresh off tossing the second furthest discus throw in the history of the nation, Marcell is out of the recruiting cycle, committing to the SEC’s Oklahoma track and field program.
“It means a lot,” Marcell said. “Ever since I was a little kid, I wanted to go to a D1 school for something. I didn't know what it was for sure, but I just knew I wanted to be a D1 athlete.
“So it’s very fulfilling.”
