ELIZABETH CITY, N.C. (WITN) - Police in Elizabeth City say a woman is dead after a missing person call.

They say yesterday around 10:39 p.m., officers went to check out reports of a missing person in the 1800 Block of Weeksville Road.

They say when they got there, they talked with the caller and began an investigation.

Police told us they found 77-year-old Clydie Spence in the area of Weeksville Road and Industrial Park. According to the department, they performed life-saving measures on her until EMS got there.

They said she was then taken to Sentara Albemarle Medical Center in Elizabeth City where she died.

Police went on to say this is an active and ongoing investigation and if you have information on it, you’re encouraged to submit it to one of their anonymous channels.
