The Gilbert Police Department has received grant funding from the Arizona Governor’s Office of Highway Safety for the 2026 federal fiscal year.
The funding will support traffic enforcement efforts aimed at improving road safety and reducing traffic-related incidents. Officers will use the grants to conduct targeted enforcement in areas such as speeding, impaired driving, and pedestrian and bicycle safety.
The department said the grants will allow officers to work overtime shifts focused on traffic safety initiatives.
The breakdown of awarded funds includes:
DUI enforcement overtime: $77,000;
Speeding enforcement overtime (Selective Traffic Enforcement Program): $65,000;
Pedestrian and bicycle safety enforcement overtime: $6,676.
