FOXBOROUGH - Last week, Drake Maye dealt with Myles Garrett and the Cleveland Browns top-ranked defense.

In between getting sacked six times, Maye carved up the Browns secondary with three touchdown passes.

This week?

Maye went up against another of the NFL’s better defensive units.

Atlanta came in with the NFL’s top pass defense. Early on, the Patriots led with their running game, and had a good measure of success.

That set up Maye to pick apart the Falcons vaunted secondary in the early going.

With 6:26 left in the third quarter, Maye (215 yards) had already thrown for the most passing yards against the Falcons defense this season.

He needed to compete a 3rd-and-5 pass with 1:42 on the clock to preserve the 24-23 win, and delivered by hitting Hunter Henry with a 17 yard pass.
