MCMINNVILLE Ore. (KPTV) - The Linfield Wildcats defeated the Lewis & Clark Pioneers 29-21 on Saturday, extending their record consecutive winning season streak - while setting a new NCAA mark in the process.
Saturday’s win marks the 69th consecutive winning season for the Wildcats - the most in college football history.
Known as “The Streak” in McMinnville - it dates back to 1956, and is more than two decades longer than the next closest program’s consecutive winning season streak, the University of Mount Union (Ohio).
In addition, the victory set a nother new NCAA all-time mark as well - one that has stood since 1913.
The Wildcats have now defeated the Pioneers 47 straight times - last losing in 1973 - besting a mark set by Yale, who defeated Wesleyan (Conn.) 46 consecutive times in
