LAREDO, Tex. (KGNS) - Three students from the Laredo Independent School District recently received certificates for their performance in JROTC training and academic courses.

The students are Carlos Raul Lopez from Cigarroa High School, Brenda Alvarez from Nixon High School and Osvaldo Arriaga from Martin High School.

The three students received their achievement awards at a ceremony attended by family, friends and teachers.

“This is the first time I’ve won an award this year. I’m a junior, so it’s kind of new to me, but I feel very accomplished and proud to be representing the Nixon JROTC,” Alvarez said.

Lopez, a senior, said he feels accomplished after spending years with JROTC.
