PITTSBURGH – A knee injury last weekend to Colts starting punt returner Anthony Gould brought the team’s frequent return option the past two years, third-year receiver Josh Downs, back into the role Sunday. It was a Downs mental error – the first turnover of his NFL career – that nudged into motion an avalanche of six turnovers the Colts couldn’t recover from.
Leading 7-0 after an initial drive touchdown, a 13-play, 79-yard march that included multiple fourth-down conversions, the Colts defense had forced Aaron Rodgers and the Steelers offense into its second-consecutive three-and-out to begin the game.
