SCOTT COUNTY, Va. (WJHL) - A community prayer service was held Sunday afternoon at the Weber City Volunteer Fire Department for 12 children battling different forms of cancer.
The service featured pastors leading families in prayer, singing and 12 journals dedicated to each child for visitors to write well wishes to each child battling cancer.
Recent studies have been conducted by the Virginia Department of Health on cancer clusters within the area.
The department defines a cancer cluster as “a greater than expected number of the same or related cancer cases that occur within a group of people in a geographic area over a specific period of time.”
The prayer service was held after one mother, Laura Lane, wanted to schedule a community service after seeing the growing number of children
