Shamli police have booked an imam for allegedly playing a loudspeaker installed at a mosque “beyond the permissible decibel limit”.
Police said that the imam at Ghumthal village of the district had repeatedly been warned against “breaching” the decibel limit after complaints from the residents of the area. However, police did not elaborate on the said loudspeaker’s volume in decibels.
Sub-Inspector Sonu Chaudhary, on whose complaint the police booked Maulana Rafique Khan, stated that he was on routine patrol when he found the mosque loudspeaker playing at a volume exceeding the permissible levels.
