More than 300 flights out of the San Diego International Airport have been delayed on Sunday, according to the FlightAware website.

In a statement to NBC 7, representatives from the airport said that flights are being delayed up to an hour tonight due to the effects of the federal government shutdown on checkpoint wait times and flight scheduling processes, which are subject to the operations of their federal and airline partners.

On the Federal Aviation Administration's website, the Air Traffic Control System Command Center lists "staffing" as the cause of the delays with the average delay time listed at 59 minutes.
