KNOXVILLE, Tenn. (WATE) — Senior guard Ruby Whitehorn has been dismissed from the Lady Vols basketball team, according to University of Tennessee Athletics.

This comes after Whitehorn was charged with simple possession Thursday morning, hours after the team's win against Columbus State. She previously pleaded guilty to charges of misdemeanor trespassing and aggravated vandalism after a domestic incident in August. After a temporary suspension, she was reinstated in September.

"It is my responsibility to protect the high standards of this historic program,” said Tennessee Women's Basketball Head Coach Kim Caldwell. “In light of recent events, Ruby has been unable to reflect those standards, and I have made the difficult decision to dismiss her from our team.
