An explosion in Bear caused damage to multiple homes and businesses on Nov. 1.
According to fire officials, a 500 lbs propane tank on a railroad maintenance car exploded on the tracks near East Moyer Drive and Wrangle Hill Road around 12:30 p.m.
Multiple businesses at 3310 Wrangle Hill Road were damaged, likely by flying debris landing on the roof and starting a fire, according to a news release from Christiana Fire Company.
At least five homes were damaged, and one was rendered uninhabitable in the Oakwood development.

Fire inspectors determined that the propane tank was part of a rail heating machine being used in maintenance to the Delmarva C
