On November 2, India created history after defeating South Africa by 52 runs to bag their maiden Women’s World Cup title. Playing at Dr D Y Patil Stadium in Navi Mumbai, South Africa were bowled out for 246 in 45.3 overs, with Deepti Sharma starring with a five-wicket haul. Shafali Verma also played a pivotal role for India, smashing 87 off 78 balls and chipping in with two wickets.
Soon after the victory, the Internet flooded with videos of celebrations across the country. One of the viral videos shows the audience at the Dr DY Patil Stadium singing “Vande Mataram” after Team India secured its victory, scripting history. Sharing the video, an X handle @LoyalSachinFan wrote, “ Mumbai crowd singing Vande Mataram after victory is my most favorite part. Instant Goosebumps.”
