NORTH TONAWANDA, N.Y. — As more families struggle to afford groceries, a North Tonawanda church and city leaders are stepping up to help.

Inside the Lumber City Church Hope Center, neighbors, city leaders, and local businesses are coming together to make sure no one goes hungry. Bags are filled with essentials, canned goods, fresh produce, and more, enough for over a hundred families.

"There's been a little panic in the community because of SNAP funds being frozen for a while and the government shutdown, and a lot of people have been expressing their fear and concern over not getting food. Am I going to starve to death? I actually had a conversation about that yesterday. Very sad.
