MINERAL POINT, Wis. (WKOW) — In the heart of Mineral Point, Christy Cole is spearheading a community effort to provide homemade meals to those in need.
"I work with a lot of families," she said. "I know a lot of us in our community, even when we have SNAP benefits, still don't have enough to get through the month."
Cole, a social worker and therapist, launched the Community Meal Share. This initiative allows people to cook, drop off and deliver ready-to-eat meals to anyone who needs them.
"We realize this is a little bit of a band-aid, but we hope it builds some community," Cole said.
Cole emphasized the need for food aid goes beyond just one month of missed assistance.
