Area high schoolers joined about two dozen Trine University students on the Angola campus for a lesson about law enforcement that required the sky.

The Fort Wayne Police Department pilot investigation team arranged a mock crime scene in a parking lot and flew drones to demonstrate searches, documentations and investigations, a news release said.

Lillian Dafforn of Churubusco is studying criminal justice and plans to work for the Department of Natural Resources – an agency that uses thermal drones to find missing persons, the release said.

She appreciated learning how drones can piece together crime scenes by using images captured from various mapping points, the release added.

“The knowledge they brought about the different uses for drones was amazing,” Dafforn said in a statement.
