The iconic station where a young King Charles once spent part of his school holidays, and which is home to one of the region's most awarded dining establishments, is up for sale.

Goonoo Goonoo Station has been put on the market as the historic property's owners, former Whitehaven Coal managing director Tony Haggarty and wife Karen, begin the process of divesting their pastoral holdings.

"The current owners are looking to reduce their scale of rural operations due to retirement and intergenerational changes," JLL Hotels & Hospitality Executive Edward Browne said.

"This offering represents the first step in a staged withdrawal from active rural businesses and presents a new owner with an outstanding opportunity to further develop and add value to this flagship property."
