The Supreme Court, while hearing the stray dogs case on Monday, said it will issue directions on November 7, including one on the feeding of stray dogs in government building premises.

On the previous occasion, a bench comprising Justices Vikram Nath, Sandeep Mehta and N V Anjaria had summoned chief secretaries of all states.

While most of them complied, there were a few exceptions.

The bench then indicated passing directions regulating the feeding of dogs by employees and staffers of government institutions on the next date.

While taking the compliance affidavits of the states on record, the bench said that the presence of the chief secretaries will no longer be required unless “necessary in case there is any default in compliance”.
