A 39-year-old man, Steven Kamanga, has died after the vehicle he was driving overturned near Kafumphe Primary School along the Dowa Boma–Chezi Road.
According to Dowa Police spokesperson Alice Sitima, Kamanga was driving from Dowa Boma towards Chezi Trading Centre with two passengers on board when he failed to negotiate a bend due to speeding. The vehicle veered off the road and overturned twice.
Kamanga sustained severe head injuries and was pronounced dead upon arrival at Dowa District Hospital, while the two passengers escaped with minor injuries.
Police have since urged motorists to observe speed limits and exercise caution when driving on rural roads.
