The Unique Identification Authority of India (UIDAI) has rolled out new rules effective November, aimed at simplifying the Aadhaar update process. The changes are expected to make updates faster, more accessible, and largely paperless for millions of cardholders.

Under the new system, individuals can now update key demographic details such as name, address, date of birth, and mobile number entirely online through the myAadhaar portal.

The online system cross-verifies data with other government databases like PAN or passport, significantly reducing the need for in-person verification or document uploads.

However, biometric updates — including fingerprints, iris scans, and photographs — will still require a visit to an authorised Aadhaar Seva Kendra.
