Tamil Nadu Vettri Kazhagam raised concerns over the special intensive revision (SIR) of electoral rolls in Tamil Nadu and urged the Election Commission to follow its earlier process for purification of electoral rolls. The party also targeted the ruling Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (DMK) over the exercise.
Claiming it was the first party from Tamil Nadu to raise its voice against Bihar SIR, TVK leader Vijay said their fears regarding the exercise have turned true. Vijay questioned whether the Commission would be able to complete the verification of 6.36 crore voters within 30 days. Vijay said the decision to conduct SIR in Assam later has only strengthened their doubts.
