There is no evidence of animals being imported without valid CITES permits or for commercial purposes in Vantara or the Radha Krishna Temple Elephant Welfare Trust, the CITES Secretariat has said, confirming lawful and ethical import practices under India’s regulatory supervision.

The report prepared by the Secretariat, which visited India in September, including the Vantara facilities, said both Vantara and the elephant trust “operate mainly as rescue and breeding centres and explicitly emphasised that they do not and will not sell animals or their offspring"— an assertion that reinforces the conservation and welfare-driven nature of Vantara’s mission.
