The Department of Education discontinued a student fellowship less than a year into its expected three-year term.

The Trump-led Department of Education unexpectedly discontinued a fellowship supporting six Indiana University graduate students, leaving their department on the hook to independently fund tens of thousands of dollars in student stipends.

The DOE notified physics department faculty in September that they were discontinuing the would-be three-year fellowship for six Ph.D. students, less than a year into the fellowship’s funding term.
