Standouts from Norton and Walsh Jesuit won the voting for the Akron-area high school football offensive and defensive players of the year .

Do-it-all athlete Buddy Willig of Norton garnered 54.3% of the vote for offensive player of the year. Defensive end Dario Jeras received 51.45% of the vote as the defensive player of the year.

The senior had 37 receptions for 851 yards and 11 touchdowns. He also had 102 rushing yards and six touchdowns and added six punt/kick returns in a little over 20 quarters with to the Panthers playing in running-clock games.
