Two brothers, ages 8 and 10, were killed, while three girls, ages 16, 14 and 3, were hospitalized
"The family is doing everything they can to stay strong," a family friend said
A Texas community is in mourning after a police car struck a minivan carrying a family, killing two children and injuring three others.
According to police in Baytown, located about 25 miles outside Houston, two-and-a-half-year veteran Officer Michael Hightower was driving through an intersection on Thursday, Oct. 23.
Police said in a statement that Hightower was responding as backup to an in-progress "persons with a weapon" call.
