The Ellen Kayrod Gallery in Midtown Detroit glows with the warmth of lived experience. Two floors are filled with color, texture, and story — 174 works drawn from 109 entries — each one a personal reflection on time, creativity and connection.
The Emerge Art Festival, now in its seventh year, opened in October as part of the Hannan Center’s 100th anniversary celebration, and it continues through Jan. 12, 2026, offering visitors a rich, ongoing exploration of what it means to age creatively in Detroit.
