Congress leaders in Telangana are reportedly unhappy with Chief Minister Revanth Reddy’s recent announcement to install a statue of former Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N. T. Rama Rao at Ameerpet Maitrivanam.
The move, aimed at appealing to a section of voters ahead of upcoming by-elections, has sparked internal dissent within the party.
Leaders argue that while the gesture may or may not attract voters, it has certainly hurt Congress loyalists, given that NTR was a staunch rival who once dethroned the Congress government and remained its political opponent throughout his career.
