NEW ORLEANS — A death that was initially reported as a possible suicide in New Orleans East is now being investigated as a homicide, and police have made an arrest in the case.

Officers were called to the 7000 block of Lawrence Road around 3:29 a.m., where they found a man with a gunshot wound. He was pronounced dead at the scene. The incident was initially reported to dispatchers as a possible suicide, according to the New Orleans Police Department (NOPD).

However, detectives later determined that the circumstances surrounding the death were suspicious and reclassified the case as a homicide. Police did not release details about what led them to that conclusion.
