A Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) officer on Monday, 3 November, conducted an inquiry for nearly an hour at the Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam (TVK) headquarters in Panaiyur, Chennai, in connection with the Karur crowd crush incident that left 41 people dead and over 100 injured on 27 September during a party outreach programme.

Following the inquiry, TVK’s joint general secretary CTR Nirmal Kumar told reporters that the CBI had sought CCTV footage and other supporting evidence related to the event.
