DANIEL ISLAND — Developer Frank Brumley and his family are donating the last remaining undeveloped land on the island to the city for recreational space.

The donation, totaling about 62 acres across several parcels, was announced during a City Council committee last month.

“It's an incredibly generous offer and act on his part,” said Mayor William Cogswell, adding that the city would “figure out how to say thank you to him.”

The land, located off Oak Left Street beyond the Daniel Island Property Owners' Association Crow’s Nest pool, is next to several existing sports fields the city already owns and freely leases to a soccer academy and lacrosse association .
