SOUTH BEND – The Indiana State Police have been requested to investigate an inmate death at the Indiana Department of Corrections (IDOC) South Bend Community Re-Entry Center located at 4650 Old Cleveland Road, South Bend, IN.

Preliminary information indicates that IDOC staff discovered Christopher Nahas, 44, of Indianapolis, IN, deceased in his bed on October 31, at approximately 11:38 a.m. IDOC staff attempted life-saving efforts until South Bend EMS arrived. EMS arrived and pronounced Nahas deceased at approximately 11:45 a.m.

An autopsy is scheduled to be conducted on November 1, 2025, to include toxicology at Western Michigan University in Kalamazoo, IN.

The Nahas family has been notified.
