BELAGAVI: The Market police here have registered a suo motu FIR against 150 people, including former MES MLA Manohar Kinekar and Shubham Shelke, for allegedly raising pro-Maharashtra slogans and disrupting the Kannada Rajyotsava celebrations on November 1.
The FIR was filed by PSI Vithal Havannanavar alleging that the accused persons had created a ruckus and raised controversial slogans that sparked tension. The police have accused them of trying to create communal disharmony by sowing seeds of linguistic discord.
The accused, who are affiliated with the Maharashtra Ekikaran Samiti (MES), allegedly raised slogans in favour of Maharashtra and created a controversy during the celebrations. Fearing arrest, the MES activists fled Belagavi, and the police are now trying to track them down. Th
