Punjab Govt introduces time-bound SOP to fask-track real estate colony licenses

Chandigarh, November 3, 2025: In a major push to streamline Punjab’s real estate sector, the Bhagwant Singh Mann-led government has approved a Standard Operating Procedure (SOP) to make the licensing process for developing colonies faster, transparent, and time-bound.

Announcing the move, Housing and Urban Development Minister Hardeep Singh Mundian said that the new SOP will ensure that colony development licenses are issued within 60 days of the application submission.

The process will be completed in two stages — issuance of a Letter of Intent within 30 days and the final license within the next 30 days.

Mundian said the earlier system was lengthy and often led to delays at various level
