WATERBURY, Conn. (WTNH) — A judge ruled on two motions Friday during a pretrial hearing for the woman accused of holding her stepson captive for more than 20 years.
Kimberly Sullivan, 56, faces charges of assault, kidnapping, unlawful restraint and cruelty to persons. Firefighters responded to a house fire on Blake Street in Waterbury in February and rescued Sullivan's 32-year-old stepson, who reportedly weighed less than 70 pounds when he escaped the family's home.
While being evaluated by EMS, he allegedly told first responders he intentionally set fire to his room to escape over 10 years of alleged captivity by Sullivan.
On Friday, the judge granted Sullivan's defense team access to Sullivan's stepson's new alias and the location where he is receiving treatment.
