BRISTOL — Lucy Camara started her championship-effort earlier than everyone.
The Lincoln School field hockey goalie had a morning work shift at her local bagel shop before the biggest game of her career. Work wasn’t a problem, and neither was Cumberland for Camara.
The junior was up for work by 6:30 in the morning, but she left the shop in time to join the team and was ready for a banner-raising performance. Camara lifted No. 2 Lincoln School (11-4) with a game-saving stop for a 1-0 victory in the Division II championship on Sunday afternoon at Roger Williams University.
Camara, after regulation time had expired, felt Cumberland’s attack to her right on the final penalty-corner sequence of the game. A late slide to her post would’ve extended the Nov. 2 match, but Camara flew to the spot
