Syracuse, N.Y. — From Democrat Lee Alexander’s 1973 victory with 64% of the vote to Republican Anthony Henninger’s 1957 win with 42%, the past 106 years of Syracuse mayoral elections have seen landslides, nailbiters and everything in between.
On Tuesday, city voters will select the next mayor from a field of four candidates: Democrat Sharon Owens, Republican Thomas Babilon and independents Alfonso Davis and Tim Rudd. They’ve been battling to replace incumbent Ben Walsh, who steps away at the end of the year due to term limits.
