GRAND ISLAND — Project Hunger held its annual Harvest Festival at Grand Generational Center in Grand Island Sunday afternoon. The event featured a fundraiser supporting local shelters.
Doug Wiender, president of Project Hunger, said the organization’s services are highly needed in the area right now.
“A lot of people in the area need food support and we’ve been doing this in the areas since 1993,” Wiender said. “Especially with SNAP programs, where they’re at right now. We have a feeling ours will go up a little bit.”
Wiender said the organization plans to stuff Thanksgiving baskets later this month and could use help from the community. Anyone interested can contact Project Hunger .
