NORFOLK — Jordan Battle isn’t trying to feed anyone for a lifetime, as the saying goes.
A season, in this case, will do for now.
A senior transfer guard from Coastal Carolina, Battle has been the main catalyst for a series of fishing outings with his new Old Dominion teammates.
The players have gathered in groups small and large to cast their reels into nearby waters, learning both a new skill and the patience necessary to execute it.
“To me, fishing is, like, my peacefulness,” said Battle, a former star at Norfolk Collegiate School who has had stops at Hargrave Military Academy, Utah Valley and Salt Lake Community College. “I wouldn’t say that was my happy time, but that’s my time to think and my time to just be one with myself, honestly. That’s how I reset, by going fishing.”
