A 27-year-old man is facing impaired and dangerous driving charges following an early-morning collision Saturday on the city’s east side.
Windsor police said officers observed a pickup truck travelling at a high rate of speed westbound on Riverside Drive East near Lauzon Road just after 2:30 a.m.
A short time later, police came upon a two-vehicle collision further down Riverside Drive.
Witnesses to the collision said a pickup truck matching the description of the earlier speeding vehicle struck a taxi and forced another vehicle off the road before fleeing.
Police located the vehicle a short distance away and arrested the driver for allegedly failing to remain at the scene.
The driver was transported to police headquarters where police said he failed a breath test.
