Seven companies, including Meesho and Shiprocket, have received approval from the Securities and Exchange Board of India (Sebi) to launch their initial public offerings (IPOs), aiming to raise nearly Rs 7,700 crore in total. This announcement was made on November 3, highlighting a significant moment for the Indian primary market, which is currently witnessing a surge in IPO activity.

Meesho, backed by Softbank, plans to raise up to Rs 4,250 crore through a combination of a fresh issue of equity shares and an offer for sale (OFS) of 17.57 crore shares by existing shareholders. Notable early investors in Meesho, such as Elevation, Peak XV, Venture Highway, and Y Combinator, are participating in the OFS. The funds raised will be directed towards enhancing cloud infrastructure, supporting salaries for technology teams, marketing initiatives, and strategic acquisitions.

Shiprocket, supported by Temasek, is looking to raise between Rs 2,000 crore and Rs 2,500 crore through its IPO. Both Meesho and Shiprocket opted for a confidential pre-filing route, allowing them to delay public disclosure of their draft red herring prospectus details.

Other companies that received Sebi's nod include German Green Steel and Power, Allied Engineering Works, Skyways Air Services, Rajputana Stainless, and Manika Plastech. German Green Steel and Power aims to raise Rs 450 crore, while Allied Engineering Works is targeting Rs 400 crore. Skyways Air Services plans a mix of fresh equity and OFS, and Rajputana Stainless is looking to raise funds for capital expenditure and debt repayment.

The approval for these IPOs comes at a time when the Indian market has seen 86 companies enter the mainboard market in 2025 alone, with more IPOs expected soon, including those from Groww and Pine Labs. Meanwhile, Bombay Coated and Special Steels have withdrawn their draft IPO documents, and Sebi has returned the preliminary papers of Vishal Nirmiti. This wave of IPOs reflects the growing interest and activity in the Indian financial market, promising exciting opportunities for investors.
