Bedford’s football team was shut out in its last two games of the regular season.
So, Mule fans were pleasantly pleased to see their team hit a season-high point total in a 42-14 win over Allen Park in the opening round of the Division 2 playoffs on Friday, Oct. 31.
The offensive explosion didn’t surprise Bedford coach John Phillips .
In fact, he believes that getting blanked by Saline and Detroit Cass Tech to close the regular season led to it.
“People were critical of us for not scoring points, but you have look at who we played,” he said.
Saline was ranked No. 3 in Division 1 and Cass Tech No. 1 when the Mules played them.
