The Boston Red Sox could bring back Alex Bregman in free agency.

Bregman reportedly will opt out of his three-year, $120 million deal with the Red Sox. Although Bregman plans to test free agency, returning to Boston isn’t out of the question.

Ahead of free agency beginning on Thursday, ESPN’s MLB insider David Schoenfield named the Red Sox the best fit for Bregman.

“The Red Sox remain the best fit,” Schoenfield wrote in an article published on Monday. “He was an important veteran presence for Boston’s young position players, and he’s a right-handed bat in a lineup otherwise heavy in lefties (Jarren Duran, Roman Anthony, Wilyer Abreu, Masataka Yoshida).
