Six housing projects in Alabama will be receiving more than $4.4 million in federal housing money from the Federal Home Loan Bank of Atlanta.
The money is part of more than $50 million going to 49 affordable housing projects across eight states and Washington, D.C.
These general fund grants are awarded through a competitive application process.
“This annual program enables our financial institutions members to partner with local developers and nonprofits to apply for funding to support meaningful affordable housing initiatives in their areas,” said FHLBank Atlanta President and CEO Kirk Malmberg.
In all, the six Alabama projects will total almost $100 million in construction, funding 314 rental units, according to the bank.
Two of the projects are in Birmingham.
