Out of Mississippi's eight public universities, all but one saw an increase in enrollment in fall 2025 compared to last year's numbers , according to data from the Mississippi Institutions of Higher Learning released Monday morning, Nov. 3.

Alcorn State University was the only institution to see a decrease, a 3.2% decline compared to fall 2024. Last year, three of the eight reported decreases.

Combined, enrollment at all eight universities reached 81,961 students, a 2.7% increase from the 79,817 students counted in fall 2024.

Mississippi State University for Women saw the biggest jump, an 8.1% increase from fall 2024, reaching a total of 2,371 students in fall 2025.
