The government has issued a warning for anyone due to receive the Winter Fuel Payment this year. Payments are due to be sent during November and December.

Certain people born before September 22, 1959 will receive up to £300 from the government to help keep their homes warm in the coming months.

In order to get the Winter Fuel Payment, you must be born on or before September 21, 1959. The amount you receive is based on your circumstances in the qualifying week of September 15 to September 21, 2025 inclusive.

The warning comes after the government department has already released a form for anyone who wants to claim the payment but needs to apply for it manually.
