Sudan and India are actively coordinating efforts to secure the safe release of an Indian national abducted by the Rapid Support Forces (RSF) in Al Fashir, a city in the embattled North Darfur region of Sudan, Sudan's Ambassador to India said on Monday.

An Indian citizen, identified as 36-year-old Adarsh Behera from Odisha's Jagatsinghpur district, was reportedly kidnapped from Al Fashir and is believed to have been taken to Nyala, an RSF stronghold in South Darfur, around 1,000 kilometres from Khartoum. The RSF recently captured Al Fashir, leading to fresh violence and widespread displacement within the region.
