A global issue could spur local action by officials in Warren.

An agenda item to award a $150,000 contract to Blue Strike Environmental, Inc to create a climate action plan for the city was tabled by council at its Oct. 28 meeting.

The California-based company would develop a plan for Warren to reduce greenhouse gas emissions and adapt to climate changes that are already happening.

“I really was expecting a little bit more detail,” said Councilman Jonathan Lafferty. “I would have expected an additional walk-through presentation from them to explain what we are getting.

“I’m very curious what we are already doing with respect to some of the metrics they are suggesting that we improve?”

Lafferty questioned if much of what Blue Strike would recommend in its plan would be things the city
