(KRON) -- A motorcyclist killed in a deadly Halloween crash in San Jose wasn't wearing a helmet, the San Jose Police Department announced Monday. The crash occurred Friday at 5:48 p.m. on the 100 block of North 24th Street, near San Jose High School.

Officers responded on a report of a crash involving a motorcycle and another vehicle.

According to the San Jose Police Department, a preliminary investigation revealed that a man riding a 2005 Yamaha motorcycle was heading north on North 24th at a "high rate of speed." The motorcyclist collided with a 2016 Toyota pickup truck that was backing out of a driveway.

The motorcyclist, who was not wearing a helmet at the time, was pronounced dead at the scene, police said. The man who was driving the Toyota was not injured and remained on the scen
